Rant about Meals on Wheels

This is just a small review that I wanted to do on our town's Meals on Wheels program. I cannot believe the price they charge for no more food then they serve these people.

I was sitting at a neighbor's house when his meals on wheels came. When he opened his container, I could not believe what it held, or should I say what it did not hold. There was one small piece of chicken, a small amount of some kind of potatoes, and a small amount of vegetables. They also get a slice of homemade bread, fruit, and milk.

The first thing I noticed, was how small of servings they give these people. They charge these people $88 a month, and then serve them very little food. I know that they have to abide by government regulations, but my neighbor that received the meals needs more nutrition then what was in that box.

The second thing I noticed was the poor quality of the food that was served. It definitely did not look appetizing in the way that it was just thrown in the container. The way that it was cooked did not look appealing either.

I know that $88 a month does not seem like a lot for a meal five days a week, and it really isn't, but I feel just because these are older people that are getting these meals, does not mean they cannot be a little more appealing and a little more in size of portions.

Okay, I am done with my small rant for now. I just felt the need to vent after I saw the poor quality of the meal that my neighbor received.

Review of Royal Classic Kitchen Towels

I have been in need of some decent, durable, decent, and absorbent towels. So, when I was contacted and told I was selected to review the Royal Classic Kitchen Towels, I jumped at the chance to get new kitchen towels at a reasonable price.

I just received them today, and when I opened the package I was immediately reminded of the days I spent working as a waitress. These towels look and feel just like the towels that we used at the restaurants where I worked. I was hoping that they would be just as good in quality.

I used one of them tonight when I did my dishes. The towel I used was super absorbent, so I was not disappointed in that department.

Before I go into too much description of how it was to use this towel, let me fill you in with some specific details about them. They are 100%  cotton. The size of these towels are 14"x25". They are solid white with a blue stripe down the middle, just like most towels used in a restaurant. The label said that they are restaurant grade, which that fact is true. They are also machine washable. The label does say that you can use bleach, but to wash them by themselves if you do.

You can find these on Amazon and they are priced at $7.49 with Prime. To me, that is a really good price for quality dish towels. These towels are of great quality and you cannot go wrong in ordering them.

When using the one towel tonight in doing dishes, the towel was incredibly soft and absorbent. It only took a couple of swipes and my hands and dishes were dry.

So, like I said, if you are needing some high quality dish towels that are durable and absorbent, head on over to Amazon and pick up a 6 pack of the Royal Classic Kitchen Towels. You will not be sorry. Even though they do not have decorations on them, they still look really nice. The link to where you can find these will be below along with pictures of these very nice towels.

Review for Majestic Pure Dead Sea Mask

When I first signed up to review the Majestic Pure Dead Sea Mask, I was a little hesitant. For one thing, I don't have that much experience using masks, unless you count dressing up for Halloween, lol. The next thing that made me hesitant was the mud part. I know how bad mud can smell, so was afraid this would stink also.  I am so glad that I overcame my skepticism and gave it a try.

When I opened the jar, I was totally surprised. It did not stink. In fact, it had a very pleasant smell. It had a little bit of a perfume smell, but it was not overwhelming or real strong. I actually liked the smell.

Then when I applied it for the first time, I fell totally in love with this product. It was so cooling to the skin, that in this hot weather we have been having in Nebraska it felt wonderful. I applied it all over even my neck just like the directions said to do. When I read the directions further, I was even more surprised. I thought that most facial masks you had to leave on for long periods of time. With the Majestic Pure Dead Sea Mask, you only left it on for 5 minutes. What a nice surprise. I was afraid I was going to have to walk around my apartment for hours looking like something that came out of the swamp.

When it came time to remove the mask, all I needed to do was rub it around like an exfoiliant and then what did not come off that way, I was to rinse the rest off with warm water. I opted to do it in the shower, as I had gotten some in my hair. Once I had it all removed, I ran my hands over my face and it felt so smooth. It felt the smoothest it had felt in a long time.

Needless to say, I cannot recommend this product enough. They sell this on Amazon for $17.95 and the shipping is free for prime members. It comes in an 8.8 oz. tub. Now, I know what you are thinking. You are thinking that is a high price to pay for a facial mask. But let me tell you, You do not need a lot of it at one time, so this will last you a long time. To me, this is a small price to pay for great skin care. The link for this product is below to make it easy for you to find it. So head on over and give it a try. You will not be sorry.

Also, here is a picture of the product so you know what it looks like.

Bobbi Jean's Silicone Spatulas Set of 3, Red: Large Spoonula, Medium Rubber Scraper & Small Corner Spatula.

I have been looking for some good silicone spatulas for awhile. I purchased some back in March from Wal-Mart and they were not all that great. They were flimsy and there was not a Spoonula in it.

I recently, though, signed up with Amazing Deals Group to do reviews, and I ran across this deal. They are the Bobbi Jean Silicone Spatulas, set of 3. So, I immediately signed up to do this. I received the package yesterday, and immediately upon opening fell in love with these.

I love to bake and cook, so this was a big deal to me. First off, the handles are nice and sturdy. They are pretty thick, so feel that they will not break easily. Also, they are easy to hang onto, which is another blessing, as I  have arthritis in my hands.

Then, I got to really put them to the test last night. I had to make the stuff to take to a potluck today. So, I decided to give them a whirl. Again, I was pleasantly surprised. The silicone part of the spatulas are not flimsy at all. They are not real stiff either. They are just right for scraping bowls and getting everything out of the bowls. They make cleaning out a bowl a little more easy.

I am anxious to see how they hold up when using them to cook hot foods. I have not gotten to try them out for that yet. I will have to let you know how they work.

The set sells for $11.97 with free shipping for those that have Prime. I know what you are thinking, as I thought the same thing. I thought that was a little steep for spatulas. But, let me tell you, they are worth every dime. I would gladly pay that much for another set, and I am thinking of investing in another set.

So, if you like to cook and bake like I do, I recommend checking these out. I will put the link below to where you can find these. You will not be sorry that you did.

KLEAN COLOR NEON NIGHT LIFE COLLECTION

I am a self-proclaimed nail polish junkie. I cannot pass up the nail polish aisle in a store without standing there and looking each one over. Very rarely do I leave the store without purchasing any.  Not only am I a nail polish junkie but I am also a bargain junkie. I have a hard time passing up good bargains whether it is something that I will use or not. This happens to me in stores as well as shopping online. I love to see what kinds of bargains I can get.

This happened to me about a week ago when I received a gift card to Amazon. Amazon is one of my favorite places to shop online. I can always find a bargain when I shop there. And the first place I look when I get on Amazon? You guessed it.....the nail polish category, and if not the nail polish category it is nail art supplies or nail care supplies.

Last week when I was perusing the nail polish section, I ran onto this really cute set of nail polish. It was from the brand Klean Color. I had heard of the brand, but I was hesitant to try it because of the price. I did not think that nail polish that cheap could be any good. Anyway, the collection I found was the Klean Color Neon Night Life Collection. They were so bright that I could not overlook them. They were also the mini bottles, and they were so cute. Here is a picture of the bottles so you can see for yourself how cute they are.

Klean Color Neon Night Life Mini Collection. Aren't they cute?
The price was very reasonable, as there were a total of six bottles for only $4.81 and free shipping. Well, the nail polish junkie and the bargain junkie could not pass this bargain up. I received them yesterday in the mail, and I was not disappointed.  I do have to say before I go any further, that the company was not real original when it came to picking out names for these polishes. Also, I do not consider these polishes to be neon. They are bright, but I am not so sure they would be classified as neon. They would really pop, though, over a white base.

The first color I want to start with is the one that takes three coats to be opaque. I used thin coats, so you might get away with doing two thicker coats for it to be opaque.  The name of the color is Neon Green. As you can tell by the name, that it is a bright green.  I thought the polish was a little sheer on the first coat. I seem, however, to have that problem with any bright greens. I have three from three different brands, and they are all that way. Not sure if it is because they are bright green or if it is the formula that each brand that I have used. Here is a picture of the green in the bottle.

The next color is the bright blue. This polish was opaque in just one coat. I did do a thick coat though. The name of this polish is Neon Sapphire. It is a very good name for this polish as it is a bright blue sapphire. Here is a picture of that polish. I am sorry for the quality of the picture. The brightness of the polish really threw this off. I think it would be so pretty with white flowers on it.

The last four polishes, like I said, were opaque in two coats. They are so pretty. The first one i am going to start with is the surprise one out of the bunch. It is a bright yellow. This is the first yellow I have owned, and I have also heard that it is hard to get a yellow opaque in two coats, that it usually takes three or more. This yellow is called Funky Yellow. It is so pretty and it is very bright. I do not think it is opaque, though.  Here is a picture of Funky Yellow.

The next color is the bright red in the bunch. The name of the polish is....wait for it....Red. I wonder if the person that named these stayed up all night thinking of that one, lol. But it is a gorgeous red. I love wearing red polishes, especially when I dress up to go somewhere special. I think that they are so classy and chic. Here is the picture of the red.

The next color is my favorite of the bunch. It is called Mango, and it is a bright, bright orange. I love the color as I think it is perfect for this summer. It also would be gorgeous doing some nail designs with.

The last color is a beautiful, bright purple. I love this color also. It is the only purple that I have right now that is opaque in two coats. It also will be beautiful in nail art designs.

So as you can see for yourself, these polishes are absolutely gorgeous. I cannot review the longevity of them, however, as I have not gotten to wear them yet. So that test is yet to come. I will update you and let you know once I wear them. But, I guess, that this set proves to me that nail polish does not have to be expensive to be gorgeous. I would check them out for yourselves, you will not be sorry. Now here is the swatches of these colors.

The colors for this collection start with the blue and go around to your left Aren't they gorgeous? So head on out and get you some beautiful nail polish in these minis and enjoy.

Men's Degree Motion Sense Dry Spray

It has been a while back since I got this. It was a sample that was sent to me, but I actually do not remember where I got it from. The reason it has taken me so long to write this review is that I actually never intended to use this. I was going to give it to my son.

The last month or  so here in Nebraska it has gotten really hot and humid. My typical deodorant, which is Suave, just was not cutting it in this weather. I then remembered that I had this and decided to give the Degree Men's Motion Sense Dry Spray a try. Once I used it that first time, I was hooked.

Yes, I know that it is a men's antiperspirant, but I really love it. It controls the odor and I do not feel so sweaty and gross. The can says it is the 48 hour antiperspirant, and they are not wrong. It actually does last 48 hours. I know this, because I accidentally tested it. The next day after my first time of using it I forgot to put on deodorant. I could not tell, as I did not stink and feel sweaty. So it does last a long time. Now, I have to clarify, that I am not sure it lasts 48 hours, because I went a head and applied some more when I realized I had forgotten my deodorant, which was half way through the next day. So I do know that it lasts 24 hours at least.

It has a clean, musky scent which I like. I do not like sweet smelling deodorant, so this suited me just fine. The name of the scent is Adventure. I noticed on the Walmart website that it comes in many different senses, but the Adventure is the one that I received in my sample.

Wal-Mart's website prices this at about $5.00. I have not priced this anywhere else, but that is about the going price for name brand deodorant or antiperspirant.

I do highly recommend this for all you active people, be you male your female. It helps to control odor, especially in the hot days of summer. And, if you happen to forget to put it on the next day, you will still be covered.

Cofeemate Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Flavored Creamer

http://www.someecards.com/usercards/viewcard/the-older-i-get-the-more-crucial-that-first-cup-of-coffee-in-the-morning-becomes-0b210

I was looking around the Internet for a perfect quote to start off my blog. I ran across this quote which describes me perfectly. This quote was found on the website someecards. I cannot take the credit for coming up with something this clever.

The reason I wanted to start with this quote is to show you how much of a coffee addict I am. I drink a lot of coffee. In fact I probably keep the coffee companies in business since I drink so much. I take my coffee with cream and sugar. Not just any creamer either. It must be flavored.

Last month, I decided to venture out and try a new flavor. I purchased Coffee mate toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie flavored creamer. And let me tell you, I was hooked right after that first cup.

This creamer has a smooth, chocolaty taste that should satisfy any chocoholic. I could not get enough of that creamer.

The Coffee Mate website at https://www.coffee-mate.com/Products/default.aspx#01261d4d-cb2a-49b5-b755-d8a93d998e45    describes it as being the taste of home baked in a cup. They are not far off in that description at all.

The only con to this creamer, is that I could not find a bigger bottle than 16 ounces. Being a big coffee drinker like I am, that did not last long at all. I hope that Coffee Mate eventually comes out with a bigger bottle in this flavor, or I might have to petition my Congressman, lol.

I highly recommend this product to anyone that is a coffee lover like I am. And, even if you are not a coffee addict, you will be soon after trying this creamer. You won't be able to get enough.

Disclaimer: This product was purchased with my own money. This blog is not sponsored, and the review is my own opinion.

Miss Jen Fabulous

Normally, I do reviews on products. Today, however, I thought that I would switch it up and do a review about a You Tuber that I absolutely am addicted to.

I am talking about Jen of missjenfabulous. I absolutely love her videos, especially her nail art videos. When I see her videos uploaded and in my subscription page, I jump on it immediately no matter what I was going to do. I have to watch them immediately.

I started watching her about a year ago. I cannot even count the number of times I watch her Nail Art for Beginners play list from start to finish. She makes doing nail art look so easy. Jen is so good at doing these as she thoroughly explains every step. The designs are amazing.

I am subscribed to a number of nail art vloggers, and there are only two that I constantly go back to for inspiration. Sara from Sara Beauty Corner, and Jen from missjenfabulous. Jen, though, is the first one that I turn to.

I have been known to get out nail polishes and nail art supplies that I have, go to her nail art play lists, and sit there and watch her videos while doing my nails. The only problem with that, is that I constantly change my mind on what design I want to use.

I am not even close to being as good as her. I struggle with the designs, as I have a shaky left hand and bad eye sight. I have a hard time doing my non dominant hand. I keep hoping that I will eventually get better at it.

So if you are in the mood to learn some nail art, I highly recommend that you turn to Jen's YouTube channel. She will definitely inspire you, and you will learn so much from her. If you decide you want to check her out, I will leave her channel link below. If you like these kinds of reviews on You Tubers as well as products, leave a comment below and let me know.

Review of Coastal Scents Ultimate 252 Palette

Today, I thought that I would write my review about Coastal Scents Ultimate 252 Palette. I have had this palette since March, and I absolutely love it. Some of the colors in this palette are not as pigmented as the others, but that easily solved by putting it over a cream base.

This palette comes in a sleek, black case. It is plain, but yet stylish. The lettering on the front is in a silverish grey color. It just says 252 Ultimate Palette, and then under that, it says Coastal Scents. I am going to insert a picture here so that you can see what it looks like, I have to ask you to ignore how bad it looks as it was my fault. I had some finger prints on it and tried to wash them off and removed some of the writing. The one thing I do like about the case, is even if it has all those colors inside, it is not big and bulky. It is slim and rather easy to handle.

As I said, in my last paragraph, there are three trays located inside. Each of the trays has a small red ribbon that hangs out a slot on the side. This makes it easy to remove each of the trays to get to the one that you like. I could not get all three trays in one picture, so here are the two pictures of the trays and all the beautiful colors contained in each one.

Here are some swatches as well. There are too many to swatch all of them, but I thought that I would show you a few of the colors. There are no names that I could see on the back for the colors, or numbers either.

As you can see, the colors in these trays are absolutely gorgeous.

There are so many different looks that you can get with this palette, that it is unreal. I do have other eyeshadows, but I tend to reach for this one the most. The pigmentation on these are so good, and they blend really well. They are not chalky or too powdery. You do, however, get a tiny bit of fall out but not that much.

You cannot beat the price of this palette either. It costs $29.95, the shipping price does vary, however. They charge by the weight, unless you order $50 or more, then it is free. I will put the link to this item below, if you want to check it out.

I do highly recommend this product. It is of very good quality for the price that it is. And with all the different looks you can come up with, not sure how many other palettes you would need in your collection. Here is the link to the palette and the Coastal Scents website.

Inspired Nail Art Design

I was trying really hard not to wear nail polish till my nails grew out. I was using cuticle oil nail strengthener, but no nail polish. Then I ran across two videos on YouTube that had some beautiful nail art that did not require any tools and I caved in. The design I am about to show you was inspired by superWOWstyle, https://www.youtube.com/user/SuperWowstyle and Sara from Sara https://www.youtube.com/user/SaraBeautyCorner.

Here is a picture of this beautiful design. I have to say, also I broke down and did this for the Fourth of July, even though it was about over by the time I did it.

This was a really simple design to do. I will list the steps that I did and hopefully that will help. I should of taken pictures of each step, but I was being an air head and did not think of it at the time. The glow you see around my nails is cuticle oil and not nail polish. So without rambling anymore, here are the steps.

  1. The first thing you want to do is to apply a base coat to protect your nail.

 2. The second step is to paint your nails white. Let this dry before moving on to the next step.

  3. The next step is to put a little bit of red nail polish or acrylic paint, which ever you prefer, on to a piece of paper, or paper plate or something along that order.

 4. You then dab your finger tip into the nail polish, dabbing some of it off onto the paper or paper towel so you have just a little on your finger tip.

  5. You then do the same with the blue color.

   6. The final step is to let this dry for a few minutes, clean up any mess on your skin with acetone and a small brush. Then apply your fast drying top coat and you are done.

You can do this technique with any colors you choose. It does not matter where you place your red and nail polish on your nails. You can put them randomly on your nails.

So you see, you can do beautiful nail art without any professional tools. If you want to see more great nail art, check out those two channels that I posted above.

I hope that you enjoyed reading this and learning a new way of doing nail art. Until next time, you all have a wonderful day.

Favorite Nail Polish in My Collection

Over the last few months, I have turned into a nail polish addict. I add to my collection every time  I have the extra money. My collection does not have any high end nail polish as of yet, but I am looking to eventually add some.

Today, I thought that I would list here some of my favorite colors in my collection. I will be showing swatches of each color. I will also be  sharing the good and the bad of each of the brands. The best part about these polishes is that the most expensive one is $2.00.

The first one I want to talk about is the most expensive. It is by Wet 'N Wild. It is in their Megalast line. It is a gorgeous shade of red. The name of this polish is called Rebel in Love. I think that is a perfect name for this color. This bottle cost me $2.00 at Dollar General. One of the things I love about this line of polishes is the width of the brush. I can normally apply one coat in just one swipe. Rebel in Love is a one coater. It is very opaque. The only negative I have about this polish is that you have to be careful as it has a tendency to run down the brush.

The next three that I want to mention come from the brand Broadway Nails. These can be found at Dollar General for just one dollar. There are a lot of shades, but for now I only have four of them. One of the shades I will be discussing I do not have a picture of the swatch as could not get a clear one as it is too dark on the swatch wheel for my camera.

The color I want to talk about that I do not have a picture of, is a beautiful shimmery grey color. The name of this polish is Gunmetal. The name pretty much describes this color to a tee. It is really pretty on the nail. As you can see by the picture the amount of the shimmer is pretty light.

The next polish from the brand Broadway Nails I want to mention is a very pretty blue. The name of the color is Bowling Ball. I do not know how they came up with the name of some of the polishes, but nonetheless it is a beautiful color. This one is fully opaque in two thin coats or one thick on. I do have to add with all of the Broadway Nail polishes, you have to be careful as they have a tendency to run down the brush, so you will have to wipe it quite a bit to keep that from happening, but the color payoff is well worth the extra work.

The third one that I want to talk about from the Broadway Nails line is a beautiful neon orange. You do not need a white base under this one, but a white base really makes this color pop. The name of this color is Sunflower. Again, I do not know how they came up with this name, as to me sunflowers are yellow. I have a thing for bright orange nail polish so could not pass this one up. This one does take two coats to be fully opaque, as it is a sheer formula.

The last one I want to talk about from the Broadway Nails line is a really bright in your face green. The name of this polish is Central Park. This polish is a little sheer and does take three coats. It is, however worth it. I love this color, especially for summer. It is so bright that it pops on its own, but on top of a white base it really pops.

All in all I do highly recommend this brand. For a dollar, you cannot beat the number of shades available as well as the color payoff. One of the other downfalls to this polish, however, is that it only lasts a couple of days or so before it starts chipping.

The next three polishes I want to mention come from LA Colors. They are found in Dollar Tree, Family Dollar and a lot of other places. They cost a dollar, and come in a bunch of different shades and formulas. They have glitter toppers as well as creams. The down fall to LA Colors is that the formulas on these are hit and miss. Some of them go on really nice and smooth, and the other ones go on a little streaky and patchy. They also chip pretty fast as well.

The first shade I want to mention is a really pretty coral shade. The name of this shade is Frill. I really love this color, and I have used it in some nail art and it works wonders. This color, however, is a little sheer, so it does require three coats to be fully opaque. It applies easily and is not patchy or streaky when I have used it.

The next polish I want to discuss from LA Colors is a bright fuchsia colors. If you have not seen a trend yet, I tend to gravitate towards bright colors, lol. This color is a great polish and is opaque in one coat. The formula on this polish is really good for a dollar nail polish. The name of the polish is Electra. I really like this color, and tend to use this one quite a bit, just by itself or in nail art.

The last color I want to mention from LA Colors is a pretty, shimmery silver.  I use this quite often as just an accent nail. It has a lot of shimmer to it as it is a metallic nail polish. The formula on this polish is really good, even though it takes two coats to be fully opaque. The picture of the bottle did not come out real good. I had a hard time getting a good swatch on the wheel that would look good in pictures. I am sorry that I cannot show you what it looks like on. But if you are looking for a beautiful metallic silver, check this one out. By the way, the name of this polish is Live.

That is all the ones that I wanted to show you today. I am sorry that this blog is so long this time, but this is just scratching the surface of my favorite nail polish colors.

I recommend all of the brands that I posted about here, as they are really affordable and they are of really good quality for the price that you pay.

Disclaimer:  I am not being paid to write this blog, and all items were purchased with my own money.

CENTRUM MULTIGUMMIES

I don't know how many of you struggle with remembering to take your vitamins, but I know that I do. One of the main reasons is that most vitamins require you to eat something when you take them. Now, I don't always feel like eating anything first thing in the morning, and by the end of the day, I have forgotten all about them.

Enter Centrum Multigummies. These make remembering to take your vitamins so much easier. There are several reasons for this, so I will name just a few.

1. The main reason they are easy for me to take is that they do not have to be taken with food. So when I go to take my other medicines I have to take, I can take these right along with them.

2. They taste great. They taste like gummies. If you love gummies, you will love these. The bottle I have has a mixture of berry, orange, and cherry flavors. I have problems sometimes remembering that they are not candy.

3. The last reason is, I have seen an improvement in my health and energy level since I started taking these. I have been taking them close to a month, and have had a definite improvement in how I feel.

These vitamins are gluten free. They also do not contain any artificial flavors or sweeteners. They are safe for people that suffer from allergies to different foods as they do not contain wheat, milk, soy, egg, peanut, tree nuts, fish or seafood.
